Bachelor in Medien- & Wirtschaftspsychologie
Questions like "Why do we spend hours on social media?" or "Why do limited edition products automatically seem more desirable?" spark your interest? Would you like to deepen your understanding of human behaviour and experience? In the bachelor's degree programme Medien- und Wirtschaftspsychologie (B.Sc.), you study at the intersection of three disciplines: psychology, media and business.
What You Will Learn
1st & 2nd Semester: The Basics
In the first and second semesters, the foundational stage of the programme, you will learn the basics of psychological, economic and media-related processes and methods. This includes introductions to media studies, general psychology, marketing & organisation, as well as an introduction to business administration. The foundations from these areas are your tools for the following semesters.
3rd & 4th Semester: Application and Key Competences
In the third and fourth semesters, you will delve deeper into application-oriented modules such as work, organisational and personnel psychology, advertising and consumer psychology as well as media and communication psychology. At the same time, you will further develop your methodological skills, for example through statistics, experimental design, questionnaire development or diagnostics and evaluation.
Alongside your subject-specific focus, you will develop key competencies that can support you during your studies and in your later professional life. These include, among others, project management, intercultural skills and media law.
5th Semester: In Practice
In the fifth semester, it is time to apply what you have learned directly in a company. During the practical semester, you choose an organisation and a professional field that interests you. Whether at a market research institute, a human resources department or a user experience unit - you decide and gain valuable experience, make contacts and develop your professional orientation.
6th Semester: Individual Focus Areas
Back from practical placement, in the sixth and seventh semesters you have the opportunity to set individual focus areas and build your personal competence profile. In fields such as human resources management, user and consumer research, or applied media psychology, you will work on interdisciplinary, practice-oriented projects, often in cooperation with external partners.
Semester 7: Almost there!
The Bachelor's degree programme in Medien- und Wirtschaftspsychologie concludes with an empirical Bachelor's thesis.
